As licensed funeral director for over 30 years, Scott’s career in funeral service has been an interesting mix of experience with family funeral service, acquisition and consolidation, and corporate operations.

At the age of twenty-two, Scott took the helm of his families funeral home in Quincy, MA.  During the following ten years he modernized and expanded the firm including an acquisition and the establishment new employee and community relations programs. 

​

In the years proceeding, Scott later merged his organization with the Waring family of Fall River and their J.S. Waterman Funeral homes.  A new group, Affiliated Family Funeral Homes, was formed consisting of additional acquisitions. The group built up to eighteen locations before being acquired by Service Corporation International.

Moving forward, Scott assumed a duel position as a location manager for his namesake firms and as the Marketing and Community Relations director for the New England region for SCI.   

 

While still maintaining a consulting role for several firms within the profession, Scott decided to explore additional business opportunities outside of funeral service in 2008.

Come 2016, Deware reentered the industry working with the development of pre-need programs and funeral home sales & marketing opportunities with Smart Pre-Need.

​

Scott currently lives in Easton, MA with his three teenage daughters and is a Professional Ski Instructor and high school ski racing coach.
